About Us

Boy Scout Troop 340, first chartered in 1984, meets at Guadalupe Elementary School and serves youth in the Almaden Valley and surrounding areas. We are part of the Pioneer District under the Silicon Valley Monterey Bay Council and our charter organization is the Guadalupe Home and School Club.

Troop 340 firmly believes that a boy-led troop allows greater participation, pride, ownership, and growth in boys as they mature into responsible young men. Specifically, the scouts take care of the many tasks necessary for troop and patrol meetings and activities to run smoothly. By accepting the responsibilities of troop leadership, Scouts are preparing themselves to be leaders throughout their lives. We work to ensure the troop is lead and managed by the boys with adults serving in supporting roles such as ensuring safety and setting a good example.

Meetings

The troop meets during the school year on Monday nights from 7:30-9:00 pm at Guadalupe Elementary School. Please see our calendar for specific meetings. During these boy-led troop meetings, scouts work on merit badges, rank advancement, and plans for upcoming outings.

Camping

Throughout the year we have many outings. During the school year, we try to have an outing or camping trip on approximately the 3rd weekend of every month. In the summer time and during presidents week, we try to do longer expeditions such as: Summer Camp, Philmont, Kayak trip, Glacier National Park, Snow Camping, or Death Valley.

Visitors

Visitors are always welcome to attend but please contact us in advance and check in with the scoutmaster or committee chair when arriving. It’s important for each scout to find a troop where he feels at home. We encourage all boys age 11-17 to visit multiple local Scouts BSA Troops to find the troop that best fits. You can join our troop even if you were not a cub scout. To arrange a visit or to ask questions, please email troop340.account@gmail.com.
